RESULTS OBTAINED WITH 6 PULSED YAG LASERS FROM DIFFERENT MANUFACTURERS
VIEWING OF THE FIRST 5 PULSES OF A BURST DIGITALIZED WITH
A THIRD GENERATION HYBRID RADIOMETER RHC30
6 lasers pulses
Unlike continuous wave lasers, the only measure of the average power is insufficient to characterize the behavior of an industrial pulsed laser with flash lamp. Considering the three potentially adjustable parameters which are: the peak power, width and pulse frequency, the results obtained in terms of pulse energy and average power are very different from one laser to another. In attachment, we observe the significant dispersion measured on the settling time and the pulse shapes of six lasers from leading manufacturers. Some lasers are very stable quickly after a few pulses, while others never are or have a significant drift over the first 5 or 10 pulses. The hybrid radiometer is the only industrialized instrument able to make all energy and time measures on pulsed lasers with flash lamp, fluctuations and pulse shapes in transitional state(on the first pulses) or in steady state.
